    SENSOR PROBE CLEANING

    Types of Probes:

White Probe - Measures HRR on an ECS system
    Yellow Probe - Measures pH
    Blue Probe - Measures HRR

Sensor probes need to be cleaned periodically to remove oils, mineral deposits and other debris to function properly. Sensor probes on smaller bodies of water, especially spas, will need to be cleaned more often.

    Procedure

    1. Close sample stream assembly valves (2 total)
    2. Turn chemical feed pumps off
    3. Disconnect probe wires from controller
    4. Carefully unscrew probe from sample stream assembly making sure not to bind wire
    5. Spray Fantastic (or 409) on tip of probe and gently scrub with toothbrush
      • On blue probe, scrub white Teflon ring on probe
      • On the yellow probe, scrub white Teflon ring at base of glass bulb
    6. Rinse with water
    7. Agitate tip of probe in light solution of acid (10 parts water to 1 part acid)
    8. Rinse with water
    9. Screw probes back into sample stream taking care not to bind wire
    10. Connect sensor wires to controller
    11. Open both sample stream assembly valves
      • Only open the valve returning to the suction side of the pump 45 degrees to create a positive pressure in the sample stream
    12. After 20 minutes, take a manual chemical reading
    13. Re-calibrate controller if necessary
    14. Turn feed pumps back on
